On the 45th anniversary of Elvis Presley’s death, Priscilla Presley, a Hollywood icon, is giving out new information about her late husband, music legend Elvis “The King” Presley.
Elvis Presley’s ex-wife has dropped a bombshell concerning one area of his career—the famed Elvis beach movies—that he never enjoyed doing. During an appearance on NBC’s “Today,” she claimed, “He Wanted to Make Important Pictures.”
Priscilla Presley spoke about Elvis’ legacy and the recently released Baz Luhrmann film “Elvis.”
Priscilla vented her rage to Colonel Tom Parker, who played Elvis’ manager in the film and was played by Tom Hanks. Colonel Tom Parker was asked about the film’s most challenging sequence.
Priscilla said, “He [Parker] didn’t take Elvis where he wanted to be.” “That was difficult for me since I had been through it. I was looking forward to hearing their debates.”
“I was there when Elvis tried to explain why he didn’t want to make all the beach movies with all the girls. I saw it happen. Going through that with him and watching the movie brought up many memories.”
Priscilla praised Baz Luhrmann’s powerful portrayal of The King’s life, even though watching the film brought up a flood of emotions for her.
In an interview with “Today,” she revealed her concerns, saying, “When I first heard that [Baz] was doing the movie, I was a little frightened.”
“And after everything was said and done, I thought, ‘Wow. ‘This is Elvis, truly.’”
Priscilla Presley admitted that she had made peace with Colonel Tom Parker, despite having problems with him over Elvis’ involvement in the beach pictures. She mentioned Parker’s achievement in accomplishing what Elvis had hoped for from the beginning of his career.
“There was the Colonel who was the manager, and then there was the Colonel who was friendly,” Priscilla continued. “He had a reasonably gentle side to his personality when he wasn’t working, but when he was, he was all business.”
He had no choice but to fulfill Elvis’s final desire for him, which was to earn a million dollars.
Elvis Presley married Priscilla Presley in 1967, and the couple was married until 1973. Elvis Presley Enterprises (EPE), founded by Priscilla Presley at Graceland after Elvis Presley died there in 1977, was essential in transforming Graceland into a well-known tourist destination worldwide.
