In 2019, they said “I do,” and their love hasn’t wavered since. Katharine McPhee and husband David Foster, a record producer, have accomplished a lot, including the birth of their son Rennie in February 2021. They are now preparing to release a Christmas EP called Christmas Songs.
Despite the fact that Katharine and David have received a lot of attention due to their age difference, they have shown the world that their love and understanding are really special.
Katharine, 38, recently told FOX News that a glass of wine is one of the ways she and David keep their marriage exciting. The actress continued by saying that they often take time to reconnect with one another over drinks and discuss topics such as their kid.
‘There’s nothing lavish about what they like to do,’ Katharine said when asked about her and David’s favourite date night activities, saying they like going to the movies and eating out.
He doesn’t drink, so I’ll have a glass of wine and we can chat. That’s the time we set aside every week to spend together. Nothing fills our time together as a family more than talking about our boy and our family.
Just get back in touch with each other would be great. David, who is now in his 70s, has previously said that he has no reservations about becoming a father.
Through his five marriages, he has welcomed six children: Jordan (age 36), Erin (age 40), Alison (age 52), Amy (age 49), Sara (age 41), and his youngest, Rennie (age 1).
Although the music mogul hadn’t planned to become a parent again at his advanced age, he told PEOPLE that he hasn’t once regretted the decision.
As he reminisced, he said, “I’ve enjoyed every single day. That old chestnut, “Oh, well, you were so young when you had your children, and you were working day and night, you never saw them,” is so overused these days that it’s almost cliché.
David added that he was sorry to say that it was true for his older children. Just working a lot was the reason. I have a lot of work on my plate at the moment, but I’ll ditch plans to spend time with him. It’s unconventional.
While acknowledging that he and Katharine are an atypical pair, he used Celine Dion and Rene Angelil’s marriage as an example in his PEOPLE interview.
David said, “There was a large age gap between Celine and Rene Angelil, and after I was working with them for a long period it simply became Celine and Rene. It seemed and felt like anything else. Of sure, at first everything seemed strange.
But I believe we’ve over that hurdle after five years together, and I hope that others will begin to see us as a couple because we know in our hearts that we belong together.
When David was a mentor on American Idol in 2006, he was assigned to a group that included Katharine. Kathrine was 22 and David was 56 when the season brought them together.
When David was interviewed by PEOPLE, the actress chimed in to say that she and David “don’t care” about their significant age gap.
Our narrative, from how we met to where we are today, is something we are very proud of. There have been occasions when we’ve looked at one other and thought, “This is so crazy, we’re together.”
Katharine had joked that she had guilted David into recording their new Christmas CD.
