Bringing up a kid in modern society is no easy feat. It’s not enough for new parents to hear criticism from loved ones; they also have to listen to online comments from total strangers.

Father of five quintuplets, Jordan Driskell is a young man. The quintuplets he had are now 5. Taking care of five kids of about the same age might be challenging.

Jordan Driskell, a father of three who is 31 years old, decided to become inventive in order to solve his predicament. To keep his active young children under control in public, he purchased child-sized leashes.

Driskell used to have a pram that could fit their whole family of six people. However, it rapidly became annoying since the youngsters were often interrupted when inside.

The pram was also a major pain to transport. When the family goes out, the small ones may run about and explore without their dad having to constantly keep an eye on them.

Driskell shared footage from the family’s trip to the aquarium, prompting widespread criticism of the parents. Over three million people have seen the clip of the youngsters walking around on leashes.

Hundreds of people said the kids shouldn’t have been leashed since they weren’t pets. Others said, “Don’t have so many kids if you can’t handle the pressure.”

Some others gave their counsel with a hint of scorn, saying things like, “Can’t you just properly train your children?” Tell them the dangers of running away.

Expert on parenting and teenage development Dr. Deborah Gilboa disagreed. She disagrees that a leash will make your kid feel like a pet. Of course, a leash is preferable than staying at home if that’s the only other choice.

Dr. Gilboa suggested using a leash to help keep younger children or those with neurodiversity under control in a public setting.

However, she did warn that it might be problematic if a neurotypical youngster still needs supervision at age nine or ten and has not yet established good listening skills.

Parents won’t need physical restraints like leashes if they’ve mastered verbal communication with their kids by then.
