When Sandra Bullock gave birth to her son, Louis Bardo Bullock, in 2010, her life turned for the better. The Academy Award-winning actress adopted her adored child when he was a tiny boy, and he’s come a long way since then.
Sandra stated Hurricane Katrina motivated her to consider adoption five years before her divorce from ex-husband Jesse James in 2010. Though she “did wonder [to herself], ‘Maybe not,’” the Blind Side actress told Parenting that she made the final choice to adopt when “Katrina happened in New Orleans.” “Something told me, ‘My child is there,’” Sandra gushed to the magazine in June 2018. It seemed strange.”
Sandra’s family grew after Louis’ birth when she adopted her second child, Laila Bullock, in 2015. She started dating L.A.-based photographer Bryan Randall later that year, and the couple has been raising the star’s lovely brood together ever since. In May 2021, an insider exclusively told Closer, “[They] have actually [become] one huge, happy family.”
While Sandra describes her daughter as someone who is “unafraid” and “going to accomplish” tremendous things in life, she noted that her son has a different attitude. In a May 2018 interview with InStyle, the Golden Globe winner explained why she refers to Louis as her “78-year-old son.”
“Lou is quite sensitive,” she explained. “He reminds me of Shecky Greene, a Jewish comic from the Catskills.” He is knowledgeable and compassionate. When they handed him to me, I noticed it. He had a spiritual presence about him. “I’m hoping I don’t screw it up,” I said.
Sandra told Willow Smith, Jada Pinkett Smith, and her mother, Adrienne Banfield-Norris, in a November 2021 open conversation on Red Table Talk that she sometimes wished she had the same skin color as her children.
“To say I wish our skins matched is an understatement. Because it would make it simpler for people to approach us,” Bullock explained. “And I have the same feelings as a brown-skinned lady with brown children or a white woman with white children.”
Sandra doesn’t have to be concerned about how she raises Louis and Laila because she has made motherhood her top focus since they were born. According to the source, the longstanding couple is “doing better than ever” when it comes to parenting and their relationship with Bryan’s support.
“He’s completely dedicated to [Sandra] and the kids, and she knows it,” the insider stated. “The kids have been calling [Bryan] ‘Daddy’ for as long as I can remember, and it still makes him smile.” Fortunately for Bryan, the insider revealed that he “loves” Louis and Laila!
