If this isn’t true love, I don’t know what is!
Rita Wilson took to Instagram over the weekend to write a heartfelt message to her husband Tom Hanks, who was celebrating his 67th birthday on Sunday (July 9).
The loved-up pair share two children together, and have been married for 35 years after tying the knot in 1988.
In fact, the couple recently celebrated their anniversary in late April, taking to social media to post an image of themselves tucking into a special cake.
“35 years of marriage. April 30 1988. Love is everything,” Wilson, 66, captioned the photo.
Hanks and Wilson met on the set of Bosom Buddies in 1981, and remained friends until they made their relationship public in 1986. They then starred together in several movies together, including 1993’s Sleepless in Seattle, in which Hanks starred alongside leading lady Meg Ryan, while Wilson played Hanks’ on-screen sister Suzy.
The acting duo went on to have two sons together, Truman and Chet, while Hanks has two children, Colin and Elizabeth, from his previous marriage to late actress Samantha Lewes.
Captioning a handsome image of her husband, Wilson penned a heartfelt message to her hubby. “Happy Birthday to this man who is my lover, my best friend, my family, the father of my children,” the actress and singer began. “He loves a typewriter just slightly less than me, ( why is there no typewriter emoji?) invents cocktails like Diet Cokecaine ( Diet Coke mixed with Champagne) or a Cokearita( Diet Coke mixed with margarita) [sic].”
She continued by saying her talented partner also “DJs regularly on [Boss Radio] , is happiest being surround by his family and friends, and has committed to telling the stories of veterans and has created his own coffee brand supporting veterans, [Hanx Coffee], for our Troops. He is one of the smartest people I know, has made me laugh everyday for 38 years, can nap anywhere at anytime. Happy happy birthday my love!”
Hanks and Wilson have often spoken about the love they have for each other. In fact, Wilson told UK TV personality Piers Morgan about one of the sweetest moments she shared with her husband, saying (via People): “I’ll never forget, we were standing on the corner of 57th and 5th in New York, or 58th and 5th. We were holding hands, and we were waiting for the traffic light to change.
“And he looked at me and he said, ‘You know, I just want you to know, that you never have to change anything about who you are in order to be with me.’ Literally, a wave of — if love is a feeling, or a cellular thing that happens to your body — it went through me, and that’s pretty much who he is, and how he’s been,” she recalled.
These two are too darn sweet! Here’s to Tom Hanks on his 67th birthday!
