The Robertson Family’s Courageous Fight to Overcome Cleft Lip and Palate Regaining Normalcy Will Take Time.
Mia Robertson, daughter of famous “Duck Dynasty” actors Jase and Missy Robertson, is now getting close to the finish of her long medical journey to fix her cleft lip and palate.
The 18-year-old is now resting at home after undergoing her fourteenth operation last month. The Robertsons’ life has been filled with hardship and difficulty ever since Mia was born in 2004.
They have had to endure several trips to the hospital and operations. The Status of Mia, According to Her Family Jase Robertson recently gave an update on Mia’s health to listeners of his podcast “Unashamed,” with his father Phil and brother Alan. She’s made a major breakthrough.
When asked about Mia’s respiration after surgery, Jase said, “Everything seems great, seems to be fine.” He praised his audience for their prayers and said, “She is a champion!”
Missy Robertson posted on Instagram about her worries for Mia’s operation. When asked how many operations Mia will need, she said, “The answer is always, ‘We just don’t know.'”
But Mia gave off a more upbeat vibe in her social media post, giving the impression that she was almost at the “finish line” of her adventure.
Taking Charge and Stepping Up Mia has been making her own treatment choices since the spring of 2021, after her thirteenth procedure. This is something her mother is still getting used to.
Missy said, “Now that she’s 18, she’s handling all the conversations and medical paperwork on her own.” There’s been something off about it.
The Robertsons have four children: three of their own and one they adopted, and they don’t think their daughter’s health problems have been for nothing.
Higher Meaning As Missy said in an interview with The Christian Post, “Looking back, especially over the last couple of years, we definitely see reasons for Him allowing us to go through this and allowing Mia to go through the pain and the challenges that she has in her life.”
Missy was proud of her daughter’s unique personality and her willingness to help others. Missy believes this shows how awesome their God is because He knew even before Mia was born that she would be a powerful witness for Christ.
Creating More Aware People and Providing Help Mia was born with a mission: to make sure that every child born with a cleft lip or cleft palate is happy.
Lip and palate abnormalities result from improper fusion during pregnancy. Cleft lip and palate occur in around one in 1,600 newborns in the United States, according to the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention.
According to Missy Robertson, the Mia Moo Fund was created to aid American families who have children born with a cleft lip or cleft palate by spreading information about the challenges these children face.
