Chris Salvatore and his family moved in with Norma Cook and her cat Hermes in 2013. Norma is 85 years old.

After Salvator formally introduced himself, the two were already friendly acquaintances. After becoming close, Salvatore, a 31-year-old actor, asked Norma to move in with him when he realised his dying mother needed constant care.

Norma’s health rapidly declined when she reached 89. Salvatore learned that Cook would need continuous care at home during a hospital stay. Without her own children or any close relatives, she felt completely alone.

Salvatore set up an online GoFundMe campaign to help Cook financially. Before the 31-year-old realised he needed to take more action.he and his closest buddy conducted an evaluation of many potential carers.

In his words, “the only other option was for her to go into a facility,” he told TODAY. To paraphrase, “I just couldn’t do that to someone who is like my own grandmother.”He extended an offer for Cook to move in with him.

As one of my friends put it, “I can’t imagine what it’s like to go through the end of your life at a hospital without your friends or pets.”They ended up being great roommates for each other.

“We always watch the news,” Cook said. As the saying goes, “We mostly talk, drink Champagne, and eat peanuts.”

On February 15, 2017, Cook passed away suddenly. In an Instagram post, Salvatore revealed the tragic news to his followers.Salvatore said of Cook, “She called me the grandchild she never had.

Although Cook did not need Salvatore’s help, he felt compelled to stay at her side throughout her last hospital days.
