There is no greater value than the wisdom imparted by an elder. Unfortunately, not everyone is fortunate enough to have their grandparents living close by. Some people don’t have somebody they can trust to give them honest advice.
This was the gap that the retirees hoped to bridge. Because of this, they did something very great. Read on for more information on this.
A group of long-time friends from Salt Lake City, Utah, used to get together often at the same coffee shop. They should share their stories with others since it was via their get-togethers and recounting of events that they arrived at their profound realisation.
One of the group, Tony Caputo, 69, saw something: across the street, at a farmer’s market, were hundreds of people. He suggested setting up a booth there so he could provide advice to the group.
The auxiliary males thought it was great. Therefore, the next week, they set up a booth with a large banner stating “Old Coots Giving Bad Advice,” “It’s probably bad advice, but it’s free.”
The men were open to discussing any topic. Politics and religion, however, were the two notable outliers. They sat about hoping that someone would come talk to them so they could solicit counsel.
A tiny but steadily expanding queue formed in front of their booth after a few clients had a good experience there, indicating that word had spread.
The so-called “Old Coots” were sought out for advice on a broad variety of issues. Everything from love and relationship problems to academic and professional challenges and even decisions about mobile phone and internet service providers.
The men were willing to talk about anything. But religion and politics were the two notable exceptions. They were waiting for anybody to come along so they could approach them for guidance.
A small but steadily expanding queue formed in front of their booth once news of the exceptional service they provided got out.
The so-called “Old Coots” became a go-to resource for guidance on everything from love and relationship problems to academic and professional dilemmas.
One of their fans commented, “They know everything, plain and simple!” ‘These are the smartest old coots you’ve ever taken counsel from,’ said another.
Their fame was such that they were asked to appear on Good Morning America. The guys have made a name for themselves with their genuine personality and sound advice.
What a great idea to set up a booth to give kids advice for free! Please share this story with your friends so that they, too, may get insight into the incredible lives of the “Old Coots.”
