When I get a brilliant idea, I immediately jot it down in my thoughts notebook. While drifting off to sleep, inspiration often strikes, prompting me to jump up and jot it down.

I usually have a lengthy array of thoughts (life experiences) on hand. I go to my workstation, look over the list.

And then choose one to draw. First, I sketch it out in pencil, then I trace it in pen, and last I colour it in with markers.

“Make art about things that matter to you, based on insights that emerge from deep inside your heart. People will want to mould you into their image, especially if you put your work out there for the world to see.

You’ll get requests to draw things people want to see, individuals that look like them, and things they wish they could draw.

You can’t be yourself if you spend all your time listening to other people. Make art that makes you happy without worrying about what other people think. Those that click will stay, and those who don’t may go their own ways.

People often ask me to illustrate topics that I know little to nothing about, such as rare illnesses or other cultures.

My art would be less genuine if I tried to impress other people. Don’t put yourself in that position. Each person has a different background and experience that should be reflected in their art. To be an artist is to live, and from that living to make art.
