Growing unlimited tomatoes at home – it’s easier than you think

If you’re anything like me, you probably wind up with more food than you can possibly consume. It’s not like I plan it, but I always wind up eating out more than I anticipated. The worst part is tossing out food that was perfectly good only a few days earlier. But these days, I’m striving to eat healthier, reduce waste, and save money!

Overripe tomatoes are just one example of a food that might spoil before we consume it, but after reading this, you’ll think twice about doing it again.

Because, rather than going to the store and purchasing new tomatoes, you can grow your own at home.

The YouTube channel “The Wannabe Homesteader” managed to produce tomatoes in just a few weeks using only a container, some dirt, and some old tomatoes!

Begin by slicing some ripe tomatoes.
Place the tomato slices in a pot with soil, then top with a little more dirt.
Water intermittently for 7-14 days. Tomato plants should be sprouting soon.
Select the largest and most mature tomato plants and replace them in a different pot.

I’ve never considered growing tomato plants from overripe tomatoes, and I’m guessing I’m not alone.

Don’t forget to share this tip with your Facebook friends! Hopefully, we can help reduce food waste while also enjoying some juicy homegrown tomatoes!
