The red carpet has seen plenty of Carrie Underwood and her husband Mike Fisher. At the most prestigious award shows in the world, such as the Grammys, CMA Awards, and American Music Awards, they have walked together. Every time we see this country music star and her retired hockey player husband, they look oh-so-in-love.
Fisher will frequently be spotted standing erectly by his wife’s side at events like the CMT Music Awards. In 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2018, and 2019 the ex-Nashville Predators star joined Underwood on the show.
As the 2023 CMT Awards passed through Austin, Texas, on April 2, Fisher, however, was nowhere to be seen. Then what’s the situation?
Do not assume that there is a conflict between Carrie Underwood and Mike Fisher. Because his wife was up for Female Video of the Year and Video of the Year at the 2023 CMT Awards, he did not attend to personally support her.
The “Hate My Heart” singer admitted on the red carpet that her husband was working as a dad that night when she was questioned about his whereabouts.
“The kids are under the control of my husband. In situations like this, he usually holds down the fort. She even acknowledged her three boys, implying they were watching her from home, with a shoutout. Aww!
Notably, the former hockey great probably did not have as easy access to the 2023 award ceremony as in previous years. Nashville, the home of country music, hosted the CMT Awards in recent years.
This happened close to Underwood and Fisher’s home in the Nashville suburb of Franklin. The award ceremony, however, would move to Texas, it was announced in November 2022.
But as she dazzled in a rhinestone two-piece that would place her on every Best Dressed list, Underwood seemed to be making the most of her time in Texas away from her sons.
Isaiah and Jacob Underwood, the couple’s two children, are kept out of the spotlight by Carrie Underwood and Mike Fisher. Last year, the “Jesus Take the Wheel” singer decided against taking the kids on tour with her in order to preserve their routine.
With ET Canada, Underwood said, “This time, they aren’t coming with me.”. Our family places a high priority on my oldest’s education. We want them to live as normal a life as they can”.
Fisher’s involvement as a hands-on father, according to Underwood, also frees her up to focus on her line of work. “I’m also grateful. I have to make a small boast about my husband,” she said. “He’s got it. He has it locked away while I’m not there. My worries about forgotten lunches or undone laundry are never necessary”.
And given Fisher’s desire to have children, that makes sense. He told The Tennessean that he couldn’t wait to be a father before Isaiah was born in 2015, and he still can’t wait.
He said that many people claim it’s impossible to understand the joy of having children until it actually happens. “I’ve been considering how I can be the best father I can be”.
There was a time when Carrie Underwood and Mike Fisher were not the ideal parents they are now. Fisher has always wanted to be a loving mother, but Underwood initially had doubts about her ability to be a good mother.
“I’ve never had great success raising other people’s kids. The country singer stated that having children wasn’t even initially high on her priority list in the “Mike and Carrie: God and Country” documentary “docuseries”.
I don’t think I ever considered marriage or having kids, she said. “On my own, I’ve always succeeded. Fisher, however, was the complete opposite.
“I grew up alongside three other siblings. And my mother and father were both wonderful. He commented, “And I think I just wanted something like that. “I aspired to be the best father I could be, to emulate my father, and to find a wife who would mirror my mother. and raise a family while residing in the nation”.
But in the end, everything worked out because Underwood and Fisher now reside in the country with their two kids. Underwood’s view of fatherhood was completely altered when Isaiah was born. “It has altered who I am. Now I feel happier. Most of the time, I’m in a better mood,” she admitted to Redbook Mag. “I’m completely smitten!”.
