Wow, the 1990s are here again? As if!
During a 90s Con panel moderated by PEOPLE Senior Editor Breanne L. Heldman in Tampa, Florida, original cast members from the well-known teen drama Beverly Hills, 90210, including Shannen Doherty, Tori Spelling, Jason Priestly, Jennie Garth, Ian Ziering, Brian Austin Green, and Gabrielle Carteris, gathered on stage to discuss the show and answer questions from fans.
When Doherty, a stage 4 breast cancer patient, earned a standing ovation from the crowd at the conclusion of the panel, she began to weep.
Doherty, 52, expressed her gratitude to the audience while visibly upset. “You guys know how much I love crying constantly. And I do, it seems. So, thank you.
Doherty released a video of herself receiving radiation treatment on Instagram in June, the same month she revealed that the disease had spread to her brain. After a CT scan revealed that the cancer cells had traveled from their initial place to the brain, she had surgery to remove a tumor from her head.
Doherty stated that she has struggled for her life, and she deals with it every day. She believes she is really fantastic.
Doherty made light of another skill she believes herself to be excellent at. The actress, who divorced her third husband, photographer Kurt Iswarienko, in April after 11 years of marriage, said that her other career is getting engaged, married, and divorced, and she is doing that very well.
Doherty will debut a podcast in November. She is best known for her roles as Brenda Walsh on Beverly Hills, 90210, and Prue Halliwell on Charmed.
Doherty said that the live interactive memoir would be titled Let’s Be Clear. So now one gets to hear everything that she previously refrained from saying. She is beautifully spilling the tea.
Additionally, she promoted 50-year-old Green’s podcast, Old-ish. It’s great, remarked Doherty. So make sure one is paying attention. She appreciates one’s affection.
Doherty has always been transparent about her battle with cancer. Her first breast cancer diagnosis came in 2015; it entered remission in 2017. Then, in 2020, she said that her cancer had come back.
Their lives don’t end the minute they get that diagnosis, she said in February 2020. The saying goes that they still have some living to do.
Doherty provided a good update on her health at the Charmed panel at 90s Con in Connecticut in March, which was also led by Heldman.
Doherty provided yet another update in June on the procedure she had in January.
Doherty posted an Instagram video of herself having radiation treatment along with the statement, On January 12, the first round of radiation occurred. It’s clear she is afraid. There was a lot going on in her life, and she suffers from severe claustrophobia.
Doherty said that she was anxious before the procedure. She felt like she could not handle the terror. She was worried about leaving her mother and how it would affect her, frightened of all the negative consequences, she said on Instagram. She was concerned that, after surgery, she wouldn’t recognize herself. This is one possible appearance of cancer.
Doherty was seen eating outside with friends in the Italian seaside resort of Nerano in August while she continued to get treatment for breast cancer.
Ten seasons of Beverly Hills, 90210 were broadcast on Fox from 1990 to 2000. Between 2008 and 2013, The CW broadcast a 90210 remake series starring some of the original cast members. These spin-offs included Melrose Place and The Heights. Additionally, in 2019, there was a brief resurgence of BH90210.
The BH90210 cast members have maintained their friendship throughout time and have been seen together on numerous occasions, such as last March’s second 90s Con at the Connecticut Convention Center.
The Tampa Convention Center hosted 90s Con Florida from Friday through Sunday. Additionally, Full House, Saved by the Bell, and Charmed all had significant cast reunions at the convention, which was organized by That’s 4 Entertainment.
