Ann-Margret, now 81, graced the entertainment world in the 1960s with her unbrushed hair, raw energy, and pure excitement. This Swedish-born actress, known for her mesmerizing beauty, vibrant personality, and impressive dancing skills, left an indelible mark on classic Hollywood.

While Ann-Margret had numerous noteworthy moments in her career, her relationship with Elvis Presley is a captivating chapter. Although their love story is often shrouded in mystery, Ann-Margret revealed some intriguing details in her autobiography, “My Story.”

The exact moment when Ann-Margret and Elvis first crossed paths remains unclear, but it was during the filming of “Viva Las Vegas” in 1964 that the blonde Swede captured Elvis Presley’s heart.

Their chemistry was palpable, both on and off-screen. Ann-Margret described their attraction as instantaneous and powerful, stating, “We both felt a current, an electricity that went straight through us.” According to her, Elvis even contemplated marriage.

Despite their intense connection, Elvis was already in a relationship with Priscilla Presley, whom he would eventually marry. This created tension, as Priscilla perceived Ann-Margret as a real threat. However, Elvis denied any infidelity, even though Priscilla suspected otherwise.

In the end, Elvis and Ann-Margret’s romantic relationship had to end, primarily due to Elvis fulfilling his commitment to Priscilla. Although their love affair was passionate, other factors in Elvis’s life also played a role in their separation.

After their romantic relationship ended, Elvis and Ann-Margret remained friends. Elvis sent her guitar-shaped floral bouquets after her Las Vegas performances. Ann-Margret was the only female co-star of Elvis to attend his funeral when he passed away in 1977.

Reflecting on her career, Ann-Margret, born in Sweden in 1941, rose to fame in the 1960s. Her remarkable performances in films like “Bye Bye Birdie” catapulted her to stardom. She was often referred to as the female version of Elvis Presley due to her sultry voice and vibrant stage presence.

Ann-Margret’s personal life also had its share of challenges. She married actor and manager Roger Smith in 1967. Despite a rocky start at their Las Vegas civil wedding, their marriage was a strong and enduring one. Ann-Margret considered Roger to be her father, friend, lover, manager, and businessman, all rolled into one.

Their marriage faced the challenge of infertility, as Ann-Margret struggled for 13 years to conceive. Despite her best efforts, she never became pregnant. Instead, she embraced her role as a stepmother to Roger’s three children from a previous relationship.

Roger’s health declined due to myasthenia gravis and Parkinson’s disease, and Ann-Margret devoted herself to caring for him. She put her career on hold during his illness, demonstrating unwavering support.

When Roger passed away in 2017, Ann-Margret mourned his loss but fondly remembered their life together. She believed that a great love story doesn’t end with death, as one carries the spirit of their loved one with them.

In 2023, Ann-Margret continues to stay active. She has a passion for motorcycles and owns a purple Harley Davidson, enjoying the exhilaration of riding. She also remains involved in Hollywood, with appearances in projects like the TV movie “A Holiday Spectacular” in 2022.

Moreover, Ann-Margret has found love again, though she hasn’t disclosed her new partner’s name. She describes falling in love as a “nice feeling” and expresses gratitude for each day.

Ann-Margret’s spectacular career, enduring commitment to her husband during his illness, and vibrant approach to life continue to inspire admiration and respect.
