Having sold 150 million records globally, Alan Jackson is without a doubt one of the most prominent country musicians there are. Known for blending traditional honky-tonk and mainstream country pop sounds, Jackson’s list of awards is so long we stopped counting. Among the rest, he is a recipient of two Grammy Awards, 16 CMA Awards, 17 ACM Awards and nominee of multiple other awards.
In 2001, Jackson was inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame, while in 2017 and 2018, he was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame and Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame respectively.
The 56th CMA was held on November 10th, and it was at this event that Jackson received the organization’s Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award.
The audience stood when the country icon entered the stage. He added, “Country music has been incredibly wonderful to me,” after the concert. As a young man, I was in love with it.
Although everything went perfectly, the event organisers were a little worried that things wouldn’t go as planned because in the past, Michael Jackson had left the ceremony in the middle of Beyonce’s performance, complaining that she wasn’t the right artist for the situation.
He expressed his hopes for the 50th annual gala night at the time and mentioned that he wished country music will be played.
“However, I am aware that the television network is trying to increase its numbers with whatever they think would achieve it, like a big concert involving a singer,” she continued.
Jackson voiced his desire for “a wonderful country music show for a change” after Beyonce’s performance.
Jackson began his career back in the day when he began playing in local taverns and nightclubs while also working as a mechanic. He subsequently signed with Nashville’s Arista Records and issued his debut album, Here in the Real World, in 1985. The rest is history, I suppose.
The Georgia native and his wife Denise have been together since 1979 and are parents to three kids.
Jackson recently disclosed that he had Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, a series of illnesses that weaken the nerves, which has interfered with his ability to move and maintain balance on stage.
Jackson is not just one of the most well-known figures in country music, but also a writer and a successful businessman with a number of ventures.
