When most people think about beauty pageants, they think about people looking their best and trying to glam it up in any way possible. Although that is true of most beauty pageants, there are some that break the rules.

This includes one beauty pageant that was held in 2023 that did not require makeup. In fact, it was a makeup-free beauty pageant, so everyone was doing their thing without wearing any bling in the form of makeup.

Miss London 2023, Natasha Beresford was able to secure the title and win this beauty pageant. It was the first ever held of its type.

Natasha, who is 26 years old and employed as a dental nurse was able to win the competition against 18 other contestants.

The beauty pageant has been going on for close to a century but this year, they decided to change things. They didn’t want to stick with the typical beauty standards so they went unconventional, and this prevented contestants from wearing any makeup.

Their goal was to boost the confidence of women, both in the contest and out of the contest. They also wanted to empower women and foster an authentic body image that focuses on the natural beauty in all of us.

In the past, participants had to submit photos of themselves that were unaltered. This was challenging, in some cases, but the lack of makeup made it even more challenging.

Natasha now advances to the Miss England final, which will be held later this year. She got started on this journey in 2021 when she earned the unofficial title of a real-life tooth fairy because of her dedication to giving dental care to children.

Natasha lives in London but originally, she was from Sheffield. She works at a private dental practice in Chiswick. She said that she has other aspirations for the future, including: “For the future, I would like to do further training in dental radiography and oral health education. I also plan on volunteering with Dentaid for their UK outreach dental clinics, where they provide dental care and oral health advice for people experiencing homelessness, survivors of abuse, families in poverty, refugees, cancer patients, and people recovering from addiction.”

“I am thrilled to have been selected as Miss London. All the girls that competed are so beautiful and truly inspirational, so it was an honor to be chosen. I hope to use my title to inspire young women and girls to feel confident and beautiful in their own skin without makeup.”
