Lewy body dementia shares symptoms with Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease, making a diagnosis challenging. The actor’s spouse Susan Schneider Williams talked about the inaccurate diagnosis. She asserted that his pathologies were among the worst that the doctors had ever seen.

Williams’ condition deteriorated over time despite the couple’s multiple therapeutic efforts. His stomach was cramped, and he experienced digestive problems and heartburn. When he was at rest, his left hand began to shake. What would occur next was a complete mystery to the couple.

He was so upset by the issues with his vision and sense of smell that he had trouble falling asleep. Later, he started having motor problems that occasionally made him stop moving in the middle of an action.

When they tried everything to address the symptoms but came up empty-handed, Susan likened it to a game of whack-a-mole.

In the fall of 2013, Williams’ friends observed that he seemed thinner and frailer than usual. After taking antipsychotic drugs, which made things worse, Williams became increasingly aware of his deteriorating mental state.
