The annual class photo day is a delightful occasion for children as they get to choose their own outfits. However, for some kids, it can be a challenging experience as they worry about what others will think of their everyday attire, and posing for pictures can be awkward.
Three-year-old Kaylieann Steinbach eagerly anticipated her class picture day the night before. However, when she saw the clothes her parents had laid out for her, her joyful expectation turned into sadness.
Kaylieann, who has severe hearing loss and cannot hear the letter “S,” has Superman and Supergirl as her favorite superheroes. She lovingly refers to them as “Pooterman” and “Pootergirl.” When given the choice of what attire to wear for class pictures, there was no doubt in her mind.
“Pootergirl!” she enthusiastically told her parents, and her father, Austin Steinbach, couldn’t argue with that answer.
Kaylieann proudly wore her Supergirl suit for the class pictures, beaming with happiness as she posed for the photographers alongside her doll. According to Austin, she frequently wears different costumes to school, and both the faculty and students eagerly anticipate discovering which superhero suit she will don each day.
When Austin shared Kaylieann’s class photo on Reddit, he was amazed by the positive response. He received an outpouring of encouraging messages, especially from the deaf community.
“The reaction and turnout from the deaf community is amazing. I still haven’t been able to get through all the messages of support and kind words people have sent me. I could never have imagined how much her picture could have touched so many,” said Austin Steinbach.
Kaylieann’s bravery and joy in expressing herself make her a real superhero. Please share this heartwarming story if you find it wonderful that Kaylieann got to fulfill her big dream!
