Country music superstar Reba McEntire sang the National Anthem at Super Bowl LVIII, and her rendition brought fans and players to tears.

The 68-year-old Grammy winner took the field just ahead of kickoff and absolutely nailed it with both talent and emotion. She did so well that when cameras panned to the sidelines, they caught Chiefs All-Pro defensive lineman Chris Jones lost in the lyrics and visibly crying.

By the end of the song, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was even getting misty.

“So much emotions going around tonight,” a fan wrote of Reba’s performance on X.

“This was pretty awesome,” wrote another. “Kudos to #KansasCityChiefs DT Chris Jones for his raw emotion during the National Anthem.”

Reba McEntire Was Discovered When She Sang the National Anthem 50 Years Ago

While tonight was the first time Reba McEntire had the opportunity to sing the National Anthem during the Super Bowl, she’s performed the song dozens of times throughout her 50-year music career. In fact, she was actually discovered while she was singing the Star Spangled Banner.

Before tonight’s show, Reba took to X and shared that opened the National Finals Rodeo in 1974. And on her website, she further detailed that she did so well that day that she was officially discovered.

“I’m honored to be part of something as big and historic as the Super Bowl coming to Las Vegas for the first time. 2024 marks 50 years since I was discovered singing the National Anthem at the National Finals Rodeo. And I can’t think of a better way to celebrate that anniversary,” she shared.
