Kenneth Mitchell, known for his roles in ‘Star Trek’ and Marvel productions, has passed away, as confirmed by his family.
In a statement shared on his Instagram account, his family announced his death, remembering him not only as a talented actor but also as a devoted family man.
Mitchell battled ALS for over five years before his passing, with his family stating that he approached each day as a gift despite the challenges posed by his illness.
Throughout his career, Mitchell appeared in various films and television series, including “Nancy Drew,” “The Astronauts Wives Club,” “NCIS,” “Castle,” “Criminal Minds,” and “Grey’s Anatomy.”
His breakthrough role came in 2006 when he starred in the series “Jericho,” appearing in 27 out of 29 episodes over two seasons.
More recently, Mitchell ventured into science fiction, portraying Carol Danvers’ father Joe in the 2019 Marvel blockbuster “Captain Marvel” and taking on multiple roles in the Paramount+ original series “Star Trek: Discovery.”
Kenneth Mitchell is survived by his wife Susan, children Lilah and Kallum, parents, siblings, and several nieces and nephews. The family has requested donations to ALS research in his honor.
Kenneth was 49 years old.
