One of the wealthiest female performers in the world is superstar Rihanna.
Although Rihanna, real name Robyn Rihanna Fenty, first gained popularity with her debut album “Music of the Sun,” she has since built her empire to include acting and managing other companies.
Despite not releasing a new solo album since 2016’s “Anti,” her other endeavors have kept her income from suffering too much during her musical sabbatical.
With an estimated net worth of $1.4 billion, Rihanna is among the richest female singers in the world, according to a June 2023 Forbes study.
This is an overview of everything that makes up her empire.
Like most musicians, Rihanna has earned a respectable living through her live performances.
In 2014, the singer and rapper Eminem co-headlined a tour that earned over $36 million for just six performances.
She has also benefited from sponsorships of tours. According to the New York Post, Rihanna inked a $25 million deal in 2015 to endorse Samsung during her 2016 Anti World Tour.
Rihanna’s career began with music, even though she has dabbled in a variety of endeavors.
She debuted her first song, “Pon de Replay,” in May 2005. She has since put out eight studio albums, releasing one each year until 2016’s “Anti” album.
Rihanna has sold an astounding 215 million digital million tracks and more than 60 million albums, according to the Roc Nation website. She is also the most viewed female artist on Vevo/YouTube, with over 11.8 billion views and 21 Vevo certificates, according to Roc Nation.
The artist reportedly made 2.5 million from sales, 7.6 million from streaming, and $10.1 million in royalties in 2016, according to Billboard.
Additionally, she owns a portion of Tidal, a streaming business that has sold investments for millions of dollars.
She has lucrative endorsement contracts.
Her website claims that she has created collections for companies like Armani and River Island.
She has also collaborated creatively with MAC Cosmetics.
Additionally, the performer has agreements with a number of brands and companies, including CoverGirl, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Dior, Balmain, luxury jewelry brand Chopard, and the sock firm Stance.
Among those other agreements is the previously announced one with Samsung.
She has also done high-level work with Puma.
Rihanna and Puma have collaborated several times.
After being appointed as Puma’s creative director in 2014, Rihanna spent years developing wildly successful shoe and apparel collections.
It seems like Rihanna hasn’t collaborated with Puma on a collection since 2018.
She’s created a stir in the beauty business.
As of 2017, one of Rihanna’s most well-known projects is her shade-inclusive beauty line, Fenty Beauty. Many of the brand’s deeper tones sold out within days of their release when they were first released in September of that year.
Sales of the beauty line reached $100 million in the first 40 days of its launch, according to Vogue.
Forbes has calculated that Fenty Beauty is worth a cautious $2.8 billion.
The cosmetics line, which was solely available at Sephora before, extended to be offered in more than 1,300 Ulta Cosmetics locations in 2022.
To promote it, Rihanna has also introduced her own show and lingerie.
The “Man Down” singer debuted her own underwear brand less than a year later, and since its May 2018 launch, it has received praise for its size, color, and shape-inclusive designs.
In less than a month, the brand sold out, based on Rihanna’s Instagram tales.
To highlight the lingerie, Rihanna created the Savage X Fenty Show in 2019.
In the US women’s underwear market, Rihanna’s Savage X Fenty brand was valued at $1 billion in 2021, according to Forbes.
Fragrances have also brought in money for her.
Prior to introducing her collections of lingerie and makeup, Rihanna was making waves in the scent industry. She has created eleven fragrances over the years, the most recent of which was this past August.
The singer’s latest fragrance is a take on her debut scent, Reb’l Fleur, which according to Rolling Stone initially outsold other pop stars’ fragrances that year and made an estimated $80 million in sales.
Her acting career has also brought her some money.
After making her feature debut in “Bring It On: All or Nothing” in 2006, the actress went on to feature in movies including “Home,” “Annie,” and most recently, “Ocean’s 8.”
The amount she has made from playing these parts is unknown, but “Ocean’s 8” alone brought in a whopping $41.5 million at the box office upon its debut.
Additionally, Rihanna is working on other projects.
The singer may be working on new projects because she applied for a trademark for “Fenty Hair” in July.
She has also made suggestions about maybe putting out new music.
