The Sister Wives family is grappling with the tragic loss of Garrison Brown, the son of patriarch Kody Brown and his wife Janelle Brown, whose life was cut short at the age of 25.
Janelle took to Instagram on Tuesday to share the heartbreaking news, writing: “Kody and I are deeply saddened to announce the loss of our beautiful boy Robert Garrison Brown. He was a bright spot in the lives of all who knew him.”
She continued: “His loss will leave such a big hole in our lives that it takes our breath away. We ask that you please respect our privacy and join us in honoring his memory.” Kody also shared the same statement on his Instagram page.
Garrison, known for his appearances on the popular TLC series, was sadly discovered deceased with a gunshot wound to his head by his brother, Gabriel, only adding further grief to the family’s already tumultuous dynamics.
At the time, Lieutenant Charles M. Hernandez II of the Flagstaff Police Department confirmed the tragic incident in a statement to People, saying: “On 03/05/2024 Flagstaff Police officers responded to a report of a death inside a home. At this time there is not any indication of foul play, and Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division are investigating.”
TLC, the network behind Sister Wives, expressed their condolences in a statement that read: “We are devastated to hear of the tragic loss of Garrison Brown. We extend our deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences to the Brown family at this difficult time.”
Garrison’s presence on Sister Wives provided viewers with glimpses into the complexities of the Brown family’s relationships. His sudden passing has left a void in the family, particularly for Gabriel, with whom he shared a close bond.
Garrison had been living independently after moving out of the family home following a heated altercation with his father regarding COVID regulations and their strained relationship. Kody’s decision to push his son out of the house only exacerbated the already strained father-son dynamic.
Kody’s comments during an episode of the show highlighted where the friction between them may have started: “When you’re twenty-one, karmically, I’ve given you all you need! You’ve got a good car. You go get a job. Here’s some cash. Bye!”
Reflecting on their upbringing, Garrison revealed that he and his brother relied on each other for support in the absence of their father, and that this only strengthened their brotherly bond.
Despite their father’s absence and indifference, the brothers remained steadfast in their support for each other. Garrison’s decision to forge his path independently, despite his father’s disapproval, further solidified the bond between them.
The strained relationship with their father ultimately ended in separate Thanksgiving celebrations last year. However, amidst the turmoil, the brothers continued to stand by each other, providing unwavering support in times of need.
Following Garrison’s tragic death, Gabriel is left to grieve and navigate life’s challenges alone.
