Keri McCartney and her husband Chad were overjoyed when they found out they were having a baby.

The woman’s pregnancy went smoothly until week 23, when the future mother went with emotion to a new ultrasound to find out if she will have a boy or a girl. It’s just that, as she looked at the monitor, Keri noticed a strange, ball-like formation under her fetus.

Insistent, she began to ask the doctor what that was and if there was anything wrong with her baby. Finally, the doctors gave the young mother shocking news: the child had a huge tumor, which was life-threatening because it blocked the flow of blood received from the mother.

The only solution to this unpleasant situation was surgery, without the pregnancy being interrupted. Although the chance of survival was only 10%, the parents decided to take a risk and accept the intervention.

After a long operation, which lasted no less than four hours and involved removing and putting the child back in the abdomen, the tumor was removed.

Keri gave birth in 10 weeks and, fortunately, their little girl was born perfectly healthy. The little one was named Macie Hope.
