Theresa Nist, 70, and Gerry Turner, 74, have made the decision to part ways. The pair, who first connected during The Golden Bachelor’s inaugural season, broke the news to Juju Chang on Good Morning America Friday.
After many heart-to-heart talks, Theresa and I have examined our circumstances, our living arrangement, and other factors. We’ve kind of mutually concluded that it’s probably time for us to — dissolve our marriage,” Turner said to Chang.
“We can’t even begin to count the number of people who have told us that watching ‘The Golden Bachelor’ has given them hope,” Nist added. “We have received so much love and support from so many people.” “We don’t want anything to change for anyone.”
During The Golden Bachelor’s first season finale, Turner proposed to Nist. The two later were married in a grandiose wedding at the start of the year.
Turner lives in Indiana, and Nist lives in New Jersey, so at first they declared they were totally committed to each other, which meant one of them would have to move, but eventually they realised they were too “dedicated” to their families.
We considered properties in New Jersey, looked at homes in South Carolina, and simply looked at house after house, but we never came to a choice.
Turner remarked, “What strikes me most about our conversations is how committed each of us is to our families.”
After having these discussions, we have come to the conclusion that living apart would be better for our individual satisfaction. Nist and Turner will lead different lives, but they won’t forget the enjoyable days they had together. “I adore this person still.” Without a doubt, I still have feelings for her. Every day, I support her,” Turner remarked. “He’s still my love,” Nist answered.
