Snakes may be living in your pool noodles, the fire department says.

If you enjoy swimming in your backyard throughout the summer, you most likely have a large collection of swimming gear. Does this include pool noodles? If that’s the case, you should check on them.

If you enjoy swimming in your backyard throughout the summer, you most likely have a large collection of swimming gear. Does this include pool noodles? If that’s the case, you should check on them. It appears that snakes live inside them.

The City of Buckeye Fire Department in Arizona described how they reacted to a resident who had rattlesnakes living in their pool noodles. This family hung their pool noodles on a wall by the pool. When they went for a swim and grabbed the pool noodles, a rattlesnake emerged. Upon further inspection, there were numerous juvenile rattlesnakes residing within!

Thankfully, no one was wounded. However, the Fire Department stated that they have responded to a number of those calls recently. Snakes are drawn to cold, calm environments, so pool noodles look like the ideal home for them.

Instead of leaving your pool noodles and other pool accessories outside, put them in a closed container or in a shed outside. Make sure there are no holes or any ways a snake could sliver their way inside.

Snakes are everywhere, not just in dry hot places. Be sure to stay protected this summer season and check your pool noodles!
