Jackie Johnson-Smith was eating with her family at a pizza place in Iowa when someone did something kind for her unexpectedly.
“I have breastfed three children,” she wrote on Facebook, sharing a picture of the dinner bill. “I have nursed them in many different places, both private and public, in good and bad times. Even though I’ve gotten many looks and stares, tonight made all the negative feelings disappear. Tonight was my first time eating at Fongs. I breastfed my fussy baby in the booth for a bit before leaving the table early to not bother others.”
“My spouse got this receipt from the waitress. I was so emotional that I couldn’t speak. It felt amazing, even though I don’t need praise for feeding my child. The message ended with, ‘It’s incredible how women can support and uplift each other.'”
Waitress Bodi Kinney told Des Moines’ KCCI 8 News, “We need to support each other when it comes to breastfeeding our children.”
