Pixie Curtis: 11-Year-Old Girl Who Makes ‘$132,000 a Month’ Retiring to Focus on School

Pixie Curtis, an Australian entrepreneur, announces retirement from her business selling hair accessories and fidget spinners

Most adults dream of early retirement, luxury cars, and a lavish life of leisure. For most, that isn’t reality, especially in childhood. Contrary to that, 11-year-old Pixie Curtis has announced early retirement to focus on school.

Meet Pixie Curtis

If you’ve no idea who Pixie Curtis is, she’s an entrepreneurial genius. When she was a baby, her mom Roxy started a hair bow business. With adorable designs and high-quality products, Pixie’s Bows became a hit in 2011, amongst hairdo lovers everywhere. Although that did well, Pixie took her mom’s entrepreneurial mindset and created something even more incredible. During the Pandemic, the young Australian began selling fidget spinners. After officially launching her business in 2021, she sold out within the first 48 hours and made more than $100,000 in her first month. Her business Pixie’s Pix, has since made her a multimillion-dollar success but now, she’s decided to take a break.

Pixie Curtis Takes a Break

Although her lavish business has been a huge success, funding fancy birthday parties, luxury cars, and anything else she could possibly dream of, the young Pixie Curtis is headed off to high school and wants to focus her time and energy on her education. Her mom and manager, Roxy disclosed, “In short, over the past few months, we have been discussing the business plans going forward as a family and decided that while it has been an amazing journey starting some three years ago, it was time to refocus with high school just around the corner. While the Pixie’s Pix online store will remain, it will go back to how it began in 2011 – as the best destination for children’s hair accessories and hair bows known as Pixie’s Bows.

Momager Fills in

Roxy will be a co-manager of the business and help fill in for Pixie while she’s away at school. It turns out that the business has been more than just a money-making opportunity for the mom-daughter team. It’s also been an opportunity to give back to those in need. A government contractor recently spent around $20,000 in stock to send Pixie Curtis accessories to non-profit organizations. These include the Ronald McDonald House, Little Wings, and Bear Cottage.

Childhood Success Stories

In the early 2000’s and generations before, options for making money were limited. Most children had a neighborhood car wash, sold lemonade, or even helped parents with a garage sale to make some spending money, if not wait for the holidays to roll around. Now it seems that children entrepreneurs are trending, allowing for those who are creative and determined to get a head start in life. Although she may be one of the most well off, Pixie Curtis isn’t the only one had incredible success. Mikaila Ulmer is an inspiration to environmental lovers worldwide. She founded Me and the Bees Lemonade after her great- granny helped her get over her fear of bees. “I did some research on bees and found out how important they are to our ecosystem and that they’re dying, so I created a product that would help save them.”  She said.

Others with Entrepreneurial Spirit

Meanwhile, Isabella Rose Taylor had already sold her first line of clothing to Nordstrom before she was 13 and has since become an outlet through which she can express herself and share her art with others.

A more well-known child success was much younger than Pixie Curtis when he gained his fame, Ryan. Who made $22 million in a single year from his YouTube Channel reviewing toys. Additionally, empowering young black men, Moziah Bridges launched his Bow-Tie business when he was just 9 years old.

Jojo Siwa acted as a voice for the LQBTQ+ community. However, that didn’t come before wowing the world with her incredible dance skills and fun music stylings. Marsai Martin became the youngest-ever executive producer at just 14 years old. Lastly, Ryan Kelly was ten years old when he founded a high-quality line of dog treats. Several other children have worked hard to become successful and make the world a better place, but there’s no denying these kids have done some incredible things.

Technology Spreads the Word

Today’s children don’t just have amazing drive and creativity. They also have more technology at their fingertips and media platforms to spread their messages and reach a wider audience. Pixie Curtis has more than 100,000 Instagram followers. Therefore, it’s clear how social media has made positive strides in helping children spread their messages to the world. Furthermore, most of the aforementioned kids have used social media and other platforms to get their names out there, to spread their business plans, and to effectively distribute products on a larger scale.

It is unknown if, but not unlikely that Pixie Curtis will take back over the business after she finishes school. In the meantime, one thing is clear; children are being celebrated for their accomplishments further driving them to bigger and better things. Technology and innovative ideas have played a major role in the success of the next generation, and it’ll be incredible to see what these kids accomplish in the future, empowering other children to reach for their dreams.
