The sharpshooter who attempted to kill Donald Trump killed the 50-year-old. The man shot dead by a sniper during an attempt on the life of US President Donald Trump has been identified as Corey Comperatore, a former volunteer fire chief from Pennsylvania.
Comperatore, 50, lost his life at a PA Trump rally in the terrible incident while attempting to shield his daughter.
Before being shot and killed by police, Thomas Matthew Crooks, the gunman, injured the former president and two other people.
Corey’s sister Dawn Comperatore Schafer posted the tragic news on Facebook, adding, “The PA Trump Rally claimed the life of my brother, Corey Comperatore,” Facebook user Dawn Comperatore Schafer wrote in a post shared Sunday. “The hatred for one man took the life of the one man we loved the most.”
The recollections of that day were also discussed by Corey’s wife and daughter. His daughter, Allyson, wrote, “He shielded my body from the bullet that came at us. He loved his family. He truly loved us enough to take a real bullet for us,” describing her father as “a real-life superhero.”
His wife, Helen, expressed her grief, saying, “Yesterday, what turned out to be such an exciting day for my husband especially, turned into a nightmare for our family. What my precious girls had to witness is unforgivable. What I had to was. He died the hero he always was.”
Those who knew and loved Corey Comperatore will never forget his bravery or his love for his family.
His terrible passing serves as a stark reminder of the pointlessness of violence and the unending power of a father’s love.
