Meghan Markle allegedly ‘couldn’t imagine life’ without her first husband, who ‘worshipped the ground she walked on’

Meghan Markle married Prince Harry six years ago, and they remain one of the world’s most renowned couples. Markle’s life has changed dramatically over the years, from being a Deal or No Deal girl to starring as Rachel Zane in the smash program Suits and then becoming a member of the British Royal Family. Today, she and Harry live in California and have two children, Archie and Lilibet Diana.

But, before becoming the Duchess of Sussex, the actress was married to Trevor Engelson, whom she met in 2004.

So, do we know anything about Meghan Markel’s first husband?

According to IMDB, he was born on October 23, 1976, in Great Neck, Long Island, New York, and attended the School of Communications at the University of Southern California.

He began his career in movies as a production assistant and eventually rose to the position of film producer. He has worked on a variety of projects throughout the years, including the 2006 picture Remember Me, which starred Robert Pattinson. He has also worked on productions including License to Wed and All About Steve.

After seven years of dating, Meghan and Trevor married at the Jamaica Inn in Ocho Rios, Jamaica. The party lasted three days, with over 100 guests attending parties, beach drinking games, brunches, and even a wheelbarrow race.

According to author Andrew Morton’s book Meghan: A Hollywood Princess, Trevor never paid her a visit on set while she was filming Deal or No Deal, but the other females did. Apparently, he was far too preoccupied with his work life to pay her a visit during the quiz shoot, and he even avoided traveling with her during her downtime as a result.

“They were driven individuals, Trevor as busy, if not more so than his girlfriend,” royal biographer Andrew Morton wrote in Meghan: A Hollywood Princess.

“It was also noticeable that unlike the boyfriends and husbands of her Deal or No Deal sisters, Trevor never visited Meghan on set.

“It was so unusual that his absence was commented on by the other girls.”

“However, there were plenty of other celebrities, mainly sports stars, who dropped by, some clearly trying to get up close and personal with the girls,” according to him.

Meghan’s wedding to Trevor, in 2011, coincided with her debut on Suits. The series was primarily shot in Toronto, Canada, and she obviously spent a lot of time there.

“Whether she wanted to admit it to herself or not, Meghan, who once said she couldn’t imagine life without Trevor by her side, was now building a new world for herself,” wrote Andrew Morton in Meghan: A Hollywood Princess.

“As Toronto was becoming more her home than LA, the dynamics in their relationship subtly altered.”

Meghan and Trevor ended their marriage barely two years later, citing “irreconcilable differences” at the time.

“Trevor was devastated by the split,” a source told The Sun in 2017.

“She suddenly didn’t have time for him. Meghan broke Trevor’s heart, plain and simple. He is still in love with her, and the news of her new connection with Harry has hit him hard.

Lady Colin Campbell, the author of Meghan and Harry: The Real Story, wrote that after coming to Toronto, Meghan began hanging out with celebrities, including celebrity stylist Jessica Mulroney. Her new friendships alienated her from Trevor.

“Trevor had always been laidback where she was controlled and controlling,” Lady Colin Campbell remarked.

“He would arrive for appointments slightly late and disheveled, his shirt out of his trousers and maybe a spot of food on his lapel, while the perfectly contained and self-possessed Meghan was always immaculately turned out.”

Meghan’s childhood pal claimed that after she became a celebrity, Meghan thought her husband was “embarrassing” for her image.

“According to Nikki’s interpretation of Meghan’s motives, having found herself a new and more ‘classy’ circle of friends, she did not wish to be bogged down with her embarrassing misfit of a husband or even her old and less Establishment circle of friends,” writes Colin Campbell in her book.

What’s interesting is that Meghan never discussed her divorce publicly. Trevor did not make any comments either. Now, author Tom Bower, who is about to publish a new book about Meghan Markle, has promised his fans more interviews with Trevor.

“This particular individual would truly have a remarkable story because, after all, he would have first-hand experience of what it was like, yes what it was like, to be married the first time around to the actress from Suits,” Bower shared with Wales Online.
