The cause of death for Tony McFarr, a Hollywood stuntman and Chris Pratt’s longtime double, has been made public.
According to TMZ, Tony died on Wednesday of a heart problem that was probably caused by drinking a lot.
The news outlet used official records from the Orange County Medical Examiner’s office in Florida.
The papers show that the medical examiner found that Tony’s death was caused by an irregular heartbeat, pointing out that there was a problem with his heart’s valves.
The stuntman died in May of this year from acute alcohol poisoning and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), according to the coroner.
The name for a group of lung diseases that make it hard to breathe is COPD.
Tony had a history of drinking a lot of alcohol, which was found in his autopsy.
The famous stuntman worked with Chris on a number of projects, such as Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and Jurassic World and its sequel, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.
“Unexpected and sudden,” Tony’s mother Donna told TMZ on May 16, 2024, that her son had died at the age of 47.
She said Tony passed away on May 13, 2024, at his home in Orlando, Florida. At the time, no one knew how he died.
In a touching Instagram post about Tony’s death, Chris, 45, said, “devastated to hear about the loss of my friend and former stunt double.”
Chris remembered some of his favorite times with Tony over the years and called him “an absolute stud” and “a gentleman and professional.”
I worked with you on a few movies. “We played golf, drank whiskey, smoked cigars, and stayed on set for hours and hours.”
“I’ll never forget his toughness.”
Chris talked about Tony’s hard work and how “he took a nasty shot to the head…and got several staples in his head” while filming the Guardians sequel.
The actor went on, “He came right back to work ready to go again.” “We will miss him. His family, friends, and especially his daughter are in my prayers.
Tony and Chris met while filming Jurassic World in 2015. They became fast friends and had a successful business partnership that lasted for many years.
In 2011, Tony’s first stunt job was on an episode of the police procedural drama Bones.
He has also worked on well-known movies and TV shows like The Accountant, Homeland, Teen Wolf, and Captain America: Civil War.
In an Instagram post from eight years ago, while filming Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, Chris wrote about his time working with Tony.
Chris posted a picture of himself and Tony McFarr in 2016 with the caption, “Here’s me and my stuntman Tony McFarr (also Tommy Harper’s stunt coordinator and our first AD Lars Winther) on set.”
