Family disputes about a loved one’s belongings are common, and they can become so intense that even those who are supposed to inherit might not agree.
A woman shared a story about her mother and the gift she left behind after passing away.
She started by mentioning that she was the one who took care of her sick mother. The woman said, “Mom was always my best friend, so naturally, I was there for her throughout everything.”
Because she was always there for her mother, her greedy brother and aunts only showed up when they needed something, usually money to pay their bills.
“While my mom was getting worse, one aunt even asked for help from my mom’s real estate contacts to find a new home. They were so bold,” the woman wrote.
Sadly, her mom passed away.
The woman recalled the day her mother’s will was read. It felt like a scene from a Hallmark movie, with her brother, aunts, and her mother’s lawyer all gathered in the room.
As the lawyer revealed the surprising news, I drank weak tea from a chipped teacup. My mom had saved around $5 million and wanted to give it all to my brother and aunts. I struggled to understand what was happening because I didn’t get anything—not a single thing.
At that moment, tears began to fall, smudging my mascara onto my skirt. Meanwhile, my brother and aunts couldn’t hide the smiles on their faces.
