Travis Kelce reveals if Taylor Swift wants him to retire from football

While a guest on The Stephen A. Smith Show, Travis Kelce talked all things football and his girlfriend, pop icon Taylor Swift.

During their conversation, Smith asked Kelce if Swift has any big opinions regarding his career and his potential retirement.

While Kelce has never mentioned when or if he will retire after this season, given his age and this being his 12th season in the league, it’s been a topic of conversation in the sports world.

“It changes every single day man,” Kelce said regarding his decision to retire. “I love every single thing that I’m doing. But at the end of the day, I’m not having that extreme success on the field as I have individually. But I’m excited for these next couple of games.”

“I never want to get to the point where I’m not helping this team win or where I’m hurting this team more than I’m helping them.”

As for how Swift feels about his eventual decision, the star Chiefs tight end told Smith, that his girlfriend has given him her full support regardless of his decision.

“I’m enjoying all aspects of life,” Kelce told Smith. “Me and Taylor are happy and I couldn’t be happier to have that confidence and that comfort off the field. And all the support in the world.”

But is the focus on his life outside of football hindering his play? Kelce says no.

“I think personally that’s the beauty of being in a very strong relationship is that you get that support to be able to come in and focus on your craft, focus on being the best version of you,” Kelce told Smith.

“That’s why I wanted to be at the concerts,” Kelce said, “being there for her making sure she feels comfortable and supported in everything she’s doing in life.”

“I’m as focused as I’ve ever been on my job,” Kelce continued. “It’s because I don’t have to worry about things off the field.”

“She’s fully encouraging me to enjoy playing this game,” Kelce said, adding that Swift loves attending games and cheering for their team. “I got all the support in the world to keep chasing these dreams,” he said.

In the end, Kelce said he hasn’t really talked to anyone about the end of his career, saying every day he enters the Chiefs facilities looking and working to get better.

“It’s a nonstop staircase of success here. Week in and week out, Coach (Andy) Reid has challenged us. Our tight end room has challenged me.”
