The past several days, there has been a familiar face missing at the “Today” show. Now, co-host Sheinelle Jones is sharing an update with her fans. On Jan. 15, Jones took to Instagram, revealing that she’s been dealing with a family matter that’s keeping her from the morning news show. “Hi everybody,” she began. “I sincerely appreciate all of you who have reached out while I’ve been absent from the show.”
Jones continued, writing, “I want to share with you that I’m taking time to deal with a family health matter.”
She then acknowledged how lucky she is for all of the support she’s received during this difficult time. “It’s not lost on me how lucky I am to have not only the support of my Today Show family, but to also have all of you. Your kindness means so much to me.” “I’ll see you soon,” she wrote before signing off her statement with, “Love, Sheinelle.”
Several members of that “Today” show family took to the comment section to openly share their support.
“You are a queen and are LOVED beyond measure! Wrapping our arms around you, always,” Jenna Bush Hager wrote. “We love you so. Not the same without you. We will see you soon,” Savannah Guthrie followed. “Love you my friend,” correspondent Jacob Soboroff added, while Al Roker reposted Jones’ statement on his page, writing, “We love you.” Prior to taking time off, Jones’ last show appeared to be Jan. 6.
However, concern grew after she was absent from Hoda Kotb’s last show as an anchor and Craig Melvin’s first. Several comments left on the “Today” show’s Instagram page inquired as to where she was.
“Where in the world is Sheinelle? Why has she missed out on the great moments with Hoda and Craig,” one fan asked. “We miss Sheinelle. Why has there been no mention on of her? Not the same without her. Hope she is ok,” another wrote. Now fans have answers.
