Ten years ago, did you even dream of seeing Lady Gaga singing onstage with the legendary British rock group Queen? Well, it may have been too spectacular to even dream about, but dreams do come true. In Sydney, a divine Lady Gaga joined Queen + Adam Lambert on stage to deliver an epic performance of Queen's megahit "Another One Bites the Dust." Adam Lambert got his start on "American Idol," but his career trajectory has been straight up since those early days. During his stint on "Idol," he got noticed by the remaining Queen members, Brian May and Roger Taylor, and they were able to convince him to come on board and tour with them as their frontman. As a Queen fan, I have to say that he's doing an amazing job, too. Trying to replace Queen's late frontman, the iconic Freddie Mercury, would have been a huge mistake. Adam didn't do that. He goes into a Queen show and is purely himself while still paying homage to the classic Queen hits that made the band famous.
As for Lady Gaga, this was likely a dream come true for her. Like Adam, she grew up being inspired by Queen and even took her name from one of their more famous songs, "Radio Gaga." To perform live with people she had worshipped from afar must have felt surreal to her. By now, Gaga's career has become legendary in its own right, and her fame and fortune may even outdo Queen in the end. She has already won an Academy Award, 11 Grammy Awards, two Golden Globe awards, and an Emmy Award. This young lady is only 33 years old. She has an entire career ahead of her and has just gotten started.
"Another One Bites the Dust" was released by Queen on the group's
"The Game" album. One of the few songs written by the Queen bass guitarists John Deacon, it went on to be Queen's best-selling single and has sold more than seven million copies. Besides being a commercial success, "Another One Bites the Dust" was a critical success as well. Queen's original version is ranked on Billboard's All-Time Top Songs at number 34. "Deacy" wasn't one of the more well-known members of Queen, so it's really cool that a song he wrote turned out to be their number one seller. The crazy thing is that Queen was reluctant to release the song as a single, but Michael Jackson convinced Freddie Mercury to release it. The rest is history, as they say.
