The four-year-old child, who is thought to have survived on chocolate, was discovered alive in a New York house with the bodies of her mother and brother, who are both eight years old.

After their landlord sounded the alarm, Lisa Cotton, 38, and her son Nazir Millien, 8, were sadly discovered dead at their house on Friday.

The property’s landlord had called the woman’s father, Hubert Cotton, 71, to inquire as to whether Lisa had moved out.

“I had been trying to call her for days and she never answered,” he told the New York Post. I assumed that she didn’t respond because she didn’t want to speak with me.

He was worried, so he dispatched Lisa’s oldest daughter to check on them at the flat, where she discovered the terrible truth.

She discovered Nazir slouched in his chair, crippled by a feeding tube and early birth. “[Nazir] was slumped over when she came in,” Hubert clarified.

After that, the young woman went in search of Lisa and discovered Promise, then four, “feeding herself with chocolate” on her mother’s bed.

Hubert stated, “She picked her up and ran out and called the police,” citing a 911 call transcript that claimed she had observed “bugs crawling” on Nazir’s body.

Neighbors had apparently been complaining of a bad odor that smelled like “death” for weeks before the mother and son were discovered (how long they had been dead is unknown).

After receiving an anonymous 911 call on Tuesday, police had finished a welfare check at the second-floor apartment at East 231st Street, but no one answered the door.

According to police sources who spoke to the outlet, responding officers had no reason to break down the door.

Even though neighbors informed them that they hadn’t seen Lisa or her kids in two weeks because they didn’t smell anything or hear any noises.

“[The police] said they’d be back in a few days,” a neighbor continued. She was attempting to obtain a court order to have the door broken in, according to one of the social workers.

Additionally, neighbors reported hearing “screaming” from the unit for days. Police told Hubert that they think Lisa, who ha

d asthma, may have died of cardiac arrest, leaving Nazir to tragically starve to death, and that neither body showed any evidence of trauma.

Promise was taken to a nearby hospital in a stable condition after it is thought that she survived by eating chocolate that she discovered inside the house.

Hubert lamented Nazir, who was “so small,” and is currently caring for Promise in his Bronx home. I grasped him in my hand. similar to a bird, especially a juvenile one.

He explained that although Promise “hasn’t said anything,” she frequently looks at him “like she knows something.”

Which leads him to suspect that she may be traumatized from spending days with her mother’s and brother’s bodies.

Hubert, a native of St. Kitts, went on to say that his daughter had experienced mental health issues and that he thought she might have bipolar disorder.

In addition, he sobbed at the thought of burying his daughter and grandson, saying, “I’m sorry…. Two of them. How will I obtain the funds? To bury them both?”

“The landlord hadn’t done wellness checks, people had called, neighbors called,” Eric Perez, who lived above Lisa, added.

“It just smells like rat infested . . . the exterminator said the same thing — the smell is similar to rats and even death.”

The mother was arrested in June 2021 on allegations of child abandonment, and according to police sources, she also had an Administration for Children’s Services case outstanding against her.

She had been acting strangely, according to sources, swinging her little daughter about in a pram and setting a wig on fire in front of a White Plains Road shopping center.

According to authorities, the case was eventually sealed when she was purportedly seen leaving the child when the police arrived.

The incident is currently being investigated, an ACS spokeswoman informed the newspaper.
