He was rushed to King George’s Medical University (KGMU), where urgent scans exposed the full extent of the injury. The nail had entered through the lower jaw and neck region, continuing upward into his skull. MRI results revealed that the nail had come dangerously close—just millimeters—from a major artery that, if struck, could have caused immediate death or permanent brain damage.
Recognizing the life-threatening nature of the injury, hospital staff assembled an expert surgical team from the Neurosurgery and ENT departments. The situation was extremely delicate, with no room for error. Dr. Sandip Tiwari, one of the lead neurosurgeons, explained that the nail had traveled upward from the base of the neck and lodged into the brain, avoiding a fatal outcome by an incredibly narrow margin.

The team carefully extracted the 2.27-inch nail from a complex area dense with critical nerves and blood vessels, located between the oral cavity and the brainstem.
