2 Dead, 2 Injured in Late-Night Shooting on Dogwood Trail

JACKSON, Miss. — A late-night shooting shook Jackson over the weekend, leaving two people dead and two more injured.

The incident happened around 11 p.m. Saturday on Dogwood Trail. When officers arrived, they discovered 48-year-old Roosevelt Denson Jr. dead from at least one gunshot wound.

By Sunday afternoon, authorities confirmed a second fatality: 26-year-old Zacchaeus Daniel Johnson.

WLBT crews at the scene reported seeing one man being loaded into an ambulance as emergency responders rushed to aid multiple victims. In total, three people were transported to local hospitals with injuries.

Hinds County Interim Coroner Jeramiah Howard responded to the scene. The case remains under investigation, and authorities have not yet released further details about possible suspects or motives.
