Last year, while cleaning out my daughter’s closet, I decided to give away some gently used clothes for a girl around 2 to 3 years old. Shortly after posting, I received a message from a woman explaining she was in a tough spot. She said her little girl had almost nothing to wear and asked if I could send the clothes by post. At first, I was skeptical and considered ignoring the request, but something in her words made me pause.
I thought about how hard life can be sometimes and how often people hesitate to ask for help. So, I packed everything up and mailed the clothes at my own expense, not expecting to hear back. Weeks turned into months, and I had nearly forgotten about it. A small part of me wondered if I had been scammed, but I told myself it didn’t matter—the clothes went to someone who might have needed them.
