Trump’s Controversial Posts About the Kennedys Surface Hours After Tragic Family Loss

Just hours after the Kennedy family shared the heartbreaking news of Tatiana Schlossberg’s passing, President Donald Trump stirred up controversy by sharing a series of critical posts about the family on Truth Social.

Tatiana, the daughter of Caroline Kennedy and granddaughter of former President John F. Kennedy, died on December 30, 2025, at the age of 35 after a brave fight with acute myeloid leukemia.

The family broke the news on social media with a simple, emotional message: “Our beautiful Tatiana passed away this morning. She will always be in our hearts,” signed by her loved ones, including her husband George, children Edwin and Josephine Moran, parents Ed and Caroline, and siblings Jack, Rose, and Rory.

While many people around the world sent condolences and support to the grieving family, Trump took a different path, reposting several sharp comments from his supporters.

The ongoing tension between Trump and parts of the Kennedy family has been building for weeks, especially after the decision to rename the Kennedy Center—the iconic performing arts venue in Washington, D.C., originally dedicated as a memorial to JFK after his 1963 assassination—to the Trump-Kennedy Center.

Joe Kennedy III, a grandson of Robert F. Kennedy, had pushed back strongly, calling it a “living memorial” protected by federal law and comparing any rename to changing the Lincoln Memorial.

Trump seems to have held onto that criticism. On Tuesday, he shared reposts highlighting supporters’ views, like one saying the Kennedy family had “long neglected” the center, claiming they don’t donate or attend events, and noting that the only recent Kennedy visitor was someone now in Trump’s cabinet.

Another repost praised the Trumps as longtime arts supporters while accusing the Kennedys of only looking out for themselves.

Trump didn’t mention Tatiana or her passing in any of these posts, but the timing drew sharp criticism online.

Many on X expressed outrage, with one popular account urging people to stand with Caroline Kennedy against what they called “despicable” timing.

CNN’s Jake Tapper also weighed in, describing it as a “stunning display of cruelty” and unnecessary “social media garbage” on a day of profound loss for the family.
