Melissa McCarthy looks unrecognizable in Super Bowl commercial — see her transformation

Melissa McCarthy has been drawing attention lately for her drastic weight loss transformation. She recently flaunted it in a goofy, telenovela-inspired Super Bowl ad. The advertisement, which was in collaboration with a cosmetics brand, not only shows her in a different avatar but also leaves social media users impressed with her acting chops and comic timing.

One of the highlights of the ad was the Gilmore Girls star donning a shimmery gold gown and a dramatic wig. The outfit also complemented her impressive weight loss transformation. It was made of a metallic material with long sleeves and a stylish belt that flaunted her cinched waist. She paired up the look with matching gold earrings, a necklace, and bangles. Melissa also wore an extravagant brunette wig.

The ad shows Melissa McCarthy driving at full speed to learn Spanish due to Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl Halftime performance. However, she suffers an accident and ends up at a hospital. She starts learning Spanish with the help of her doctor, played by Nicholas Gonzalez of The Good Doctor fame.

The advertisement further shows her improving her Spanish after much struggle by using the products from the cosmetic brand. By applying more and more products, she becomes fluent in Spanish, leaving a nurse envious, as was essayed by renowned telenovela actress Itatí Cantoral of Blameless Love fame.

Talking about the advertisement to People, the 55-year-old actress-comedian said, “e.l.f. has a big Latinx/Hispanic community that loves their products, and this is just a way to kind of send the love right back.”

She further added about her experience on the set, “It got funnier and more absurd with each take. It was not a very serious day of filming, so that’s always a joy.” Melissa McCarthy has undergone a massive weight-loss transformation, leaving the internet stunned. Social media users caught a glimpse of the same at last month’s Golden Globe Awards, where the Bridesmaids star looked unrecognizable in a full-sleeved black gown with gold embellishments.

She revealed to CBS News that she lost around 95 lbs after she stopped worrying about her weight. She revealed, “I finally said [to myself], ‘Oh, for God’s sake, stop worrying about it,’ and it may be the best thing I’ve ever done.”

The Identity Thief actress added, “I truly stopped worrying about [my weight]. I stopped over-analyzing, over-thinking, and over-doing anything. I just stopped constantly being worried about it, and I think there’s something to kind of loosening up and not being so nervous and rigid about it that, bizarrely, has worked.”

Speaking to Forbes, she further revealed that instead of worrying about her appearance, she has learned to be a good role model for her daughters, Vivian (18) and Georgette (15), and to focus on her inner self. Melissa McCarthy said, “It sounds corny, but I believe it to my core that beauty is what’s on the inside, and whatever you’re putting on the outside, be good to yourself.”

The Heat star added, “Use products that are good to the world. It’s about having fun with makeup, a little self-care, and using good products that are healthy for you. That’s how both my girls see it, because they love makeup, but they use it in such an interesting way. They don’t take it seriously. It’s not.”
