The Gist
Taylor Swift switched up her signature blonde hair style for her "Opalite" music video.
She rocked a cute wavy brunette lob with curtain bangs.
The music video was inspired by her appearance on The Graham Norton Show and featured her fellow guests Greta Lee, Lewis Capaldi, Domhnall Gleeson, Jodie Turner-Smith, and Cillian Murphy.
Oh, my Lord! Taylor Swift is no longer blonde! At least, she ditched her blonde for her new "Opalite" music video. Instead of her signature long blonde hair and full set of blunt bangs, Swift rocked a dark brunette lob with messy waves and swooping curtain bangs parted in the middle.

Released on February 6, the video sees Swift playing a loner in the '90s who is (checks notes) in love with a rock. Don't worry, before long she finds a kindred spirit in the form of Domhnall Gleeson (who was in love with a cactus, by the way) thanks to a magical substance known as "opalite." The video is filled with cute '90s references: scrunchies, sparkly tracksuits, mall dates. One outfit saw Swift rock a pale pink ribbed tank top paired with extra short denim cutouffs and a cute '90s-coded blue choker. Iconic stuff, honestly.
Swift wrote the music video after her October appearance on The Graham Norton Show. "My favorite part about writing is that first spark of an idea. It can happen at any time, for any reason. The idea for the Opalite music video crash landed into my imagination when I was doing promo for The Life of a Showgirl," she explained in an Instagram caption.
She added that she felt "ridiculously lucky" with her fellow guests that night: Greta Lee, Lewis Capaldi, Domhnall Gleeson, Jodie Turner-Smith, and Cillian Murphy. "All people whose work I’ve admired from afar," Swift wrote. "When we were all talking during the broadcast, Domhnall made a light hearted joke about wanting to be in one of my music videos. He’s Irish! He was joking! Except that in that moment during the interview, I was instantly struck with an *idea*."
Swift wrote the script with them in mind and they all agreed. "To my delight, everyone from the show made the effort to time travel back to the 90’s with us and help with this video," she wrote. "You might even recognize some friendly faces from The Eras Tour."
She concluded: "I had more fun than I ever imagined—Made new friends, metaphors, and fashion choices. It was an absolute thrill to create this story and these characters. Shot on film."
Although Swift is known for her bright blonde hair IRL, it's not the first time she's gone darker for a music video. She had a brunette moment in the "You Belong With Me" music video as well as the "Wildest Dreams" video. More recently, she opted for a dark brown shade in a rope dress and rocked a chocolate-colored bob for two promotional shots for Life of a Showgirl. She also had a '60s brunette moment in her "Fate of Ophelia" video
