200,000 Reward Offered in Kidnapping of Savannah Guthrie’s Mother Nancy

The search for Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of Today show co-anchor Savannah Guthrie, has now stretched into its third week, and authorities just announced a major boost in the reward for any information that could help bring her home safely.

On February 18, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department shared that an anonymous donor stepped up with a generous $100,000 contribution to the local 88-CRIME program. That pushed their reward amount to $102,500—on top of the $100,000 already being offered by the FBI. All told, that means more than $200,000 is now on the table for tips leading to Nancy’s location or the arrest and conviction of anyone involved in her disappearance.

Nancy was last seen on the evening of January 31, and police believe she was taken from her home in Tucson, Arizona, sometime overnight into February 1. The family realized something was wrong when she didn’t show up for a planned virtual church service with a friend around noon that day.

Investigators have been working nonstop. They’ve collected biological evidence from inside Nancy’s residence, and DNA profiles from that are still being analyzed in the lab—no extra details on how many profiles or what they might mean yet, since it’s an active investigation.

The FBI released some chilling surveillance footage back on February 10, showing a masked person who appeared to be armed tampering with a Nest camera at her front door early that morning. They describe the suspect as a man around 5’9” to 5’10” tall, average build, carrying a black 25-liter Ozark Trail hiker backpack (the kind you might pick up at Walmart).

A pair of gloves found roughly two miles away—thought to match what the person in the video was wearing—were tested for DNA, but nothing came up in the national database when they ran it on February 17.

So far, no suspects or persons of interest have been publicly named, and the sheriff has made it clear the family—including Savannah and her relatives—has been cleared as possible suspects.

In the neighborhood, people have been showing their support in touching ways, tying yellow ribbons (a classic symbol of hope for someone missing) around trees, cactuses, and mailboxes. Some have left flowers and small memorials right outside Nancy’s house.

Savannah has been right there in Arizona with her family since this started. She’s shared heartfelt videos on Instagram, speaking directly to whoever might have her mom and begging for her safe return, reminding them it’s never too late to do the right thing.

Anyone with information is urged to reach out—call the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI (1-800-225-5324) or the Pima County Sheriff’s Department at 520-351-4900. Every tip could make a difference in bringing Nancy home.
