Kelly Clarkson has admitted that she spanks her children from time to time to help teach them discipline.
The star even acknowledged that although spanking children is frowned upon, she continues to do it.
Research has shown, time and again, that spanking doesn’t get your kids to behave better…
It actually damages them in several ways over the course of their lives.
It’s been around for thousands of years…
But an investigation has found that it’s just not a good way of achieving its goal.
Most parents still use this form of discipline with their children despite what the statistics say about how much of a negative impact it causes.
But it’s all based on how the parent was raised.
A study by Tulane University found that children spanked by age 5 were far more physically aggressive than those who were not.
But ultimately, it is the parent’s decision to decide whether they will use it as their parenting method.
There is one celebrity who uses this form of punishment to her children…
Kelly Clarkson.
Clarkson has admitted that she finds it “tricky” to do it in public because it is frowned upon.
At Atlanta Radio Station back in 2018, Clarkson said, “I’m not above a spanking, which people aren’t necessarily into.
“I don’t mean hitting her hard, I just mean a spanking.”
However, it’s not a parenting method the singer relies upon all the time.
She explained that the spanking is a last resort.
Clarkson also admitted that she underwent the same treatment, where she use to get spanked.
“My parents spanked me, and I did fine in life, and I feel fine about it, and I do that as well.
“That’s a tricky thing, when you’re out in public, because then people are like, they think that’s wrong or something, but I find nothing wrong with a spanking,” she said.
Clarkson also said that she never spanks her children out of the blue and always warns them before she does it.
“I warn her. I’m like, ‘Hi, I’m going to spank you on your bottom if you don’t stop right now, this is ridiculous,’” Clarkson said.
“Honestly it’s really helped. She doesn’t do that kind of stuff as often,” she admitted.
