We live in a world that is certainly having its fair share of difficulties. Many of them are associated with climate change, and some people feel as if they need to do something extreme to help.
If Rob Alcock has his way, however, he is going to talk you out of purchasing an electrical vehicle. The hotel manager bought his only four months ago but he was disappointed because he couldn’t get more than 120 miles from a charge.
That is something because the advertisement said that you should get over 200 miles with a single charge. When he tried to return it with only 3000 miles on it, the dealer said that it’d already depreciated $19,000.
The EV vehicle was purchased so that he could embrace a green lifestyle. The problem was, he now found himself in a quandary because he was losing a lot of money.
To be sure, there weren’t any accidents and there was no damage. It was just because of the 3000 miles that the price had dropped considerably.
Rob is upset because he doesn’t get as many miles as what was advertised. He also said that running the heat in the vehicle has a significant impact on the number of miles he can go as well.
Considering the fact that he is driving in the winter, he is really missing out on a lot.
Many drivers are saying that getting an EV is the way to go because you are saving the earth. There are also a number of hidden costs and some issues associated with it that should be considered.
The experience of this hotel owner really shows that it is important to be fully aware of what you’re getting into and not to simply make a decision based on an emotional response.
Admittedly, electric vehicles have come a long way since they first came out but there is still a laundry list of issues that need to be considered. This isn’t only limited mileage, you also need to consider the environmental impact of all of those batteries and what happens to them when they are replaced.
As they say, let the buyer beware, and this is one area where we need to keep that fully in mind.
