King Charles III ascended to the throne back in September, following the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

Charles Philip Arthur George was the late Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip’s first child, born on November 14, 1948.

He was quickly thrust into the spotlight as heir to the throne and has spent the majority of his life in the public eye.

According to the royal website, Charles was also the first heir to go to school instead of receiving a private education from tutors.

He took his education very seriously and became the first heir to obtain a bachelor’s degree, studying archaeology, anthropology, and history.

Aged just twenty years old, he was invested as Prince of Wales by the Queen.

After his studies, Charles served in the Royal Navy just as his father and grandfathers before him did.

In 1980, Charles famously began dating Lady Diana Spencer when he was thirty-one and she was just nineteen.

However, they first met when he was dating her older sister, she was just sixteen at the time.

Their relationship was highly publicized, and the world immediately fell in love with Diana, branding her the ‘people’s princess.’

However, their relationship was anything but a fairytale…

I think we all remember the interview where the pair were asked if they were in love, to which Diana replied: “Of course,” while Charles said: “Whatever ‘in love’ means.”

Despite his comments, they married on July 29, 1981, with a record-breaking 750 million people watching the wedding on TV.

Shortly after their marriage, they welcomed 2 sons into the world…

Prince William was born on June 21, 1982, followed 2 years later by Prince Harry, who was born on September 15, 1984.

Sadly, the pair went on to split in 1992, after rumors were confirmed that Charles was having an affair with Camilla Parker Bowles.

Charles and Diana officially divorced in 1996. However, just a year later, on August 31, 1997, Diana was killed in a tragic car crash in France, along with her boyfriend Dodi Al-Fayed, and Henri Paul, who was driving at the time.

In 2004, Charles went on to propose to Parker Bowles, who he wed a year later, giving her the title of Duchess of Cornwall.

Over the years, Charles has been given the nickname “action man” due to his extensive list of hobbies, such as surfing, skiing, horse riding… the list goes on.

But he’s also done a lot for charity, establishing over twenty charities in his spare time…

3 of his most recognizable charitable feats include The Prince’s Trust, The Prince’s Foundation, and The Prince of Wales’s Charitable Fund.

He is also known for supporting charities helping to tackle climate change and improve sustainability.

According to his website, King Charles and Camilla are “President or Patron of over 500 organizations.”

Despite having a very privileged life…

He has also faced a lot of hardships.

Over the last few years, Charles has suffered an immense loss…

He has had to say goodbye to both his mother and father within such a short space of time.

In 2021, Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh sadly died aged ninety-nine, making him the longest-serving royal consort in history.

Then, not even a year later, Queen Elizabeth passed away, leaving Charles to take on the responsibility of becoming King.
