After posting a video of herself giving birth to her son in the Pacific Ocean, a new mother went viral. In an Instagram post,

37-year-old Josy Peukert described how she and her 42-year-old partner, Benni Cornelius, drove to the beach on Playa Majagual, Nicaragua, so she could give birth.

After refusing scans during her pregnancy, she gave birth to her child in a so-called “free birth” without medical aid.

More than 200,000 people have viewed the footage of the waves hitting her back while she writhes in agony during contractions.

“I felt really good because the waves had the same rhythm as the contractions,” Josy added.Statistics on the number

Of free births that occur worldwide each year are unavailable, however it is thought to be low but rising.

Following a six-day labor without medical help in 2018, a California woman’s baby was stillborn, sparking criticism about the procedure.

“I had this idea in my head that I wanted to give birth in the ocean, and because the conditions were right on the day, that’s what I did,” Josy explained while describing her choice.

Benni took the couple to the beach with a birthing tool box that included paper towels, gauze, a basin with a sieve to

Capture the placenta, and towels when Josy realized her labor was beginning. Her kids went to stay with friends.

“I went back into the ocean to freshen up after Bodhi was born and wrapped up in towels,” Josy remarked.

After I had changed, we packed up and drove home, where the three of us immediately went to bed.”We used luggage scales to weigh Bodhi later that evening, and he weighed 3.5 kg, or 7 lb 6 oz.”

Because doctors and midwives take away from what the female body can achieve on its own, the mother of four says she wanted her baby to be born without any medical interference.

“I wanted to be worry-free for once,” she stated.”I gave birth at home for the second time after a traumatic first birth in a clinic, but by the third time,

Even having a midwife in my home was too much.” I had no doctor’s appointments, scans, or outside influences this time.

We simply trusted that our kid would find its way; we had no deadline or due date for its arrival.”With just my partner,

The waves, and myself, I had no worries or fears about welcoming a new little soul into our lives.” It was lovely.

“I was reminded that there is only life between heaven and earth by the soft volcanic sand beneath me.”

On February 27, 2022, Josy gave birth to a boy named Bodhi Amor Ocean Cornelius. He is thirteen weeks old now.

She stated: “I kept an eye on the tide for weeks, so I knew the beach would be safe for us when it was time for me to give birth.”

“Bodhi is a very contented and peaceful baby.” When he is in his mother’s arms, everything is amazing for him.

“He is as at ease as he was inside my womb.”After meeting in Germany, Josy and her soon-to-be husband moved to

Nicaragua, where they had their first child, Marley Mune, who is currently two years old. They have seven kids between them.

On her Instagram profile raggapunzel, where she has 6,800 followers, Josy posted a video and birth story of

Bodhi when he was two days old. The video went viral. More than 200,000 people have viewed it thus far.

But after talking about her experience, Josy got some negative feedback regarding her decision to give birth in the sea for free.

Is this hygienic? wondered one commentator. The sea contains a lot of bacteria.”What a shock for that bubba – from a warm womb to the cold ocean,” someone else wrote.

“Bodhi was born in the midday sun when it was about 35 degrees, so we weren’t worried at all that he’d be cold, and I had no concerns about waterborne infections,” she continued in response to the trolls.

He is in excellent health. To make sure it was safe, I conducted all the necessary research.Water is a barrier that has been shown to work in medicine.

“I wanted to feel fully connected to this baby and myself through self-directed care.””We could not have asked for a better gift than this pregnancy.”
