On Sunday afternoon, little Gracelyn Vick vanished from Saucier. Her family claims that she left the house to play in the yard at midday, but she never returned.
Her relatives called the police after hours went by with no sign of her. For around six hours, the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office in Mississippi conducted an urgent search. To help find Gracelynn, local law enforcement agencies, Gulf Coast Search and Rescue, helicopters, drones, and about 40 volunteers joined the search.
Sadly, her body was found close to the family’s property later that day.
Grief counselors have been hired by Saucier Elementary to assist pupils in overcoming the devastating loss of a little classmate. According to the Sun Herald, Gracelynn is the third child her mother, Vicky Lynn (Wedgeworth) Hutcherson, has lost in recent years, and the grief is nearly unbearable for her.
Victoria Hutcherson, Gracelynn’s 13-year-old stepsister, lost her life in a tragic crash on U.S. 49 just last year, in March 2024. According to the authorities, she was a passenger in a minivan that struck a dump truck while attempting to cross four lanes of traffic.
Family recalled Victoria, an eighth grader at West Wortham Elementary School, as a kind big sister who protected her siblings. And sorrow befell the family once more in July 2021 when Gracelynn’s brother, Larry Hart, age 18, passed away from a medical issue, according to his obituary.
As six-year-old Gracelyn Vick from Saucier, Mississippi was discovered, please remember her family and friends in your prayers.
What a heartbreaking story it is to read. Little Gracelynn, may you rest in peace. Let’s hope the cops are allowed the room they need to investigate the incident properly and quietly.
