As President Trump meets Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska, a “routine threat exercise” was carried out by the U.S. Secret Service at the White House — or so they say.

Witnesses in Washington, D.C., saw snipers stationed on the roof, Marine One hovering, and an unusually high number of armed personnel patrolling the grounds. Officially, this was labeled as a “scheduled drill” to test rapid response readiness.

But the timing has many asking: why now? Could there be concerns about a real threat while the Commander-in-Chief is out of town? And why run such an operation during a high-stakes international meeting?

The White House press office insists the exercise was unrelated to any credible threat. However, in the current climate of geopolitical tension, some experts believe such measures may be precautionary — or preparation for an undisclosed security situation.

Whether coincidence or calculated timing, the sight of helicopters, armed agents, and rooftop sharpshooters has stirred speculation both inside Washington and online.

What do YOU think — just a drill, or something bigger?
