José Armando, a Cruz Azul fan who gave up chemotherapy to enjoy his life, dies.
The little boy indicated that it was very painful to receive the treatment, so he decided not to continue with it in order to live his last moments in the company of his family.
The young boy who captivated social media with his fanaticism for the Cruz Azul soccer team lost his battle with cancer. He died today, April 23rd, at the age of 14.
According to his family on social media, this Sky Blue fan left after causing a stir among the fans and the team itself, which had invited him to the stadium, but due to his health, he was unable to attend.
His family shared the sad news of his death on social media. A photo dedicated to him reads: “To the beloved memory of José Armando Guzmán Mendoza . April 23, 2024, at the age of 14. I know that every day for the rest of my life, I will miss you. Beloved son, brother, and friend.”
He abandoned his chemotherapy to rest
This boy from Veracruz won the affection of all Mexican soccer fans, regardless of the team they supported, and in an act of solidarity, many of them used their social media to pray for the health of this cement worker because, tired of the effects left by chemotherapy , he decided to abandon it.
This news was what made her case gain relevance throughout Mexico because, despite her young age, she remained steadfast in her decision to have a dignified death, free from the side effects of these leukemia treatments.
José Armando suffered from lymphoblastic leukemia , however, after taking more than 120 chemotherapy sessions, he preferred not to continue with the treatment to enjoy life with his family and loved ones , in addition to watching his team week after week in search of a new championship.
However, over the past few days, his family had requested help from his neighbors as he needed platelets and type O+ blood. Despite several efforts to maintain him as best as possible, this Tuesday his body couldn’t hold up and he lost the fight against the disease.
Cruz Azul looked for its little fan
After the news that José Armando no longer wanted to fight his leukemia with medication and treatments became public, the internet quickly spread, reaching Cruz Azul players and executives, who didn’t hesitate to invite him to watch one of their games.
This news filled the boy with joy, however, it was impossible for him to go to the state during matchday 10 of the 2024 Clausura tournament against Chivas because his delicate state of health prevented him from traveling from Veracruz to Mexico City to attend the Estadio Azul .
After the inconvenience, the team did not ignore this story and decided to send him a shirt autographed by the entire squad, in addition to Uriel Antuna dedicating one of the two goals he scored to the boy in the Máquina’s 3-0 victory over Guadalajara.
