Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced a satirical “ban” on Pride flags in public schools, saying,
“This is Texas, not TikTok.” He claimed only the American flag,
the Texas flag, and an oversized Dallas Cowboys banner are acceptable.
The move follows Utah’s similar policy, jokingly forming the “No Rainbow Coalition.”
Abbott said classrooms should use “real Texan symbols,” while teachers mocked the constant rule changes.
Parents reacted along predictable political lines, with one father celebrating that kids could “go back to learning important things.”
Others questioned why simple rainbow pins were being targeted.
To enforce the rules, Abbott introduced a humorous “Wokeness Patrol” that hands out Texas-themed replacements for rainbow items.
Satire around the ban spread quickly online, including memes like “No rainbows, Timmy. Only tumbleweeds.”
Students responded with playful protests, insisting, “If they ban flags… we’ll just become the flags.”
